Upright vacuum cleaners are popular in the global – and for good reason. They are powerful, versatile and available for very reasonable prices. Uprights also excel at cleaning large areas of floor quickly. Aside from the type of vacuum, you should consider a variety of other factors, such as the filtration system, included tools and whether the vacuum comes with a warranty. It’s also vital to research the brand before you buy – some are known for high-quality, reliable vacuums.
Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet
The Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet might be a bit of a mouthful, but it’s an excellent mid-range upright that provides great value for money – especially if you have pets. Aside from the lift-out cylinder, Vax has continuously improved the Air Lift features and performance. Other notable features include a 1.65 metre extendable hose, off button for the brush bar, and on-board tool storage. It’s also easy to put together – although be prepared to spend some time maintaining the brushbar as it can get tangled with hair. Check full reviews.
Shark DuoClean NV801UKT
The Shark NV801UKT is the latest upright in the company’s excellent “Powered Lift-Away” series. It’s an expensive vac, but worth the money if you have pets or want a powerful all-round cleaner. Shark is an American company that often goes under the radar in the UK. This is a shame, as it’s impressive how many features Shark has packed into the NV801UKT. The DuoClean floor head, for example, provides two brush rolls for removing household mess of any size. There’s also a HEPA filter and several accessories – although we’re not fans of the vac’s orange appearance. Check full reviews.
Dyson Ball Animal 2
As you would expect from Dyson, the Ball Animal 2 a powerful vacuum cleaner that provides excellent performance on all surfaces. It also comes with a tangle-free turbine tool for pet hair and a redesigned cleaner head (more on that in a moment). Like all modern Dyson uprights, the Animal 2 built with “Ball” technology for greater manoeuvrability. It also has an articulated handle for easier cleaning in awkward locations. While it’s a relatively heavy machine, it’s versatile for an upright and can handle most surfaces. The low-profile cleaner head is also handy for getting under furniture. Check full reviews.
SEBO Automatic X7 ePower
The SEBO Automatic X7 might not look as advanced as models such as Dyson Ball Animal 2- but don’t let that fool you. This is a powerful cleaner with excellent filtration. The SEBO Automatic X7 isn’t a cheap vacuum cleaner, and it doesn’t come with many advanced features. Despite this, it’s simple to use and provides a reliable, efficient clean. So, if you’re looking for a model that takes the complexity out of cleaning, the SEBO could be a great option. Check full reviews.
