In terms of performance, this is a brilliant vacuum. With powerful suction, a longer run-time and a new motor, it’s probably as close to a corded cleaner replacement as you’re likely to get.
This performance is partly due to the powerful direct-drive head for carpets. The brush bar digs into carpets to remove dust and dirt that’s buried in fibres, while untangling pet hair. The Animal also comes with a mini turbo tool for upholstery and cars.
Allergy sufferers will be pleased with Dyson’s “whole machine filtration,” as it does a good job of keeping allergens trapped. The V8 can also be converted into a handheld mode and uses a total of 15 cyclones to capture dirt and dust.
This is where the specification starts to diverge from the previous V6 range. Inside is the V8 motor, which Dyson claims is the most powerful in any cordless (at last until the V10 came along). The run-time of 40 minutes is significantly longer than the V6 Absolute’s 20 minute lifetime. It also comes with a docking station for charging and space for attachments.
